New England Patriots News
The New England Patriots missed out on getting one top receiver, but another might become available very soon.
While the team’s first preseason game was going on, there was a development on social media.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has been holding out from training camp due to a contract dispute. And his latest tweet could mean he’s looking to get out.
One account posted a quote from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones speaking about the contract situation.
“I don’t have any urgency to get it done,” Jones reportedly said.
And Lamb couldn’t help but comment back.
“lol,” he wrote in response.
And then fans noticed that Lamb took out “America’s Team” from his bio on X, formerly known as Twitter.
All of this is not a good sign for the Cowboys, and it doesn’t appear that Lamb will be staying in Dallas for much longer. Especially if he holds out, the team might be forced to explore a trade.
So it could be good news for the Patriots.
This past week, the Patriots were aggressively pursing San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who they have shown an interest in since before the draft. And it was even reported that they offered around $32 million. But in the end, Aiyuk didn’t appear to want to come to New England. So the Patriots gave up and decided to focus on their current room instead.
But if Lamb becomes available, they should start making some calls.
Aiyuk is just the latest receiver the Patriots have targeted, also showing interest in DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley. But both opted to go elsewhere.
The issue is that New England is no longer a hot destination for these players. They have a rookie coach, a rookie quarterback, and a young receiving room. Going to the Patriots is going to a team that is in a rebuild.
But you never know what might happen.
Patriots fans should start keeping a close eye on this ongoing situation.
